Short about Danish Designers
Danish Designers represents more than 1000 professional designers within industrial design, interior architecture and communication design.
Since MMI (Furniture Designers and Interior Architects of Denmark) and IDD (Industrial Designers of Denmark) joined forces in 1995, the organization has been the only official voice speaking on behalf of the Danish design industry. As such, Danish Designers has been on the cutting edge in comparison to the international design community at large, as in most countries, the structure of single discipline organizations remains. Even internationally there are three organizations with distinct professional focuses, ICSID, IFI and Icograda, although they are currently negotiating on establishing one global federation for designers as well as other professionals who work with design.
Danish Designers wants to take advantage of its mandate to speak on behalf of one of the fastest growing industries in the industrialized world in order to focus on the potential of design as a tool for change, in a commercial as well as a non-profit context. We believe that design in its broadest sense can help improve the conditions under which we live – both in our own and in the less privileged parts of the world.
At the same time, we aim to be the professional forum for people representing design competence, either as designers, educators, researchers, industrialists or promoters of design as a cultural factor, a competitive tool or a tool for change.
Hence our members represent the most extensive and varied source of information on design in Denmark, whether the angle is commercial, cultural, educational or the need to know where design is moving – in Denmark as well as internationally.
Danish Designers is represented on the boards of ICOGRADA (International Society of Graphic Design), ICSID (International Society of Industrial Design) and BEDA (European Association of Design Organizations) and has an extensive network throughout the international design community. We will gladly provide you with the contact you seek.
